Trojans tally 272 yards on ground, toppled Tigers

Without six of its players due to an incident at Thursday's junior varsity football game, the Bandys varsity football team persevered.

The Trojans ran the football 47 times for 272 yards on their way to a 32-0 shutout victory over Fred T. Foard in Newton on Friday.

Quiante Derr led Bandys (2-0) with 102 rushing yards, while Dillon Street added 92.

Bandys built a 25-0 lead at halftime behind two touchdown runs from Derr — a 28-yarder in the first quarter and an 18-yarder in the second.

Street also had a one-yard scoring run in the first quarter, while fellow Trojan running back Logan Hughes ran for a nine-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

Bandys quarterback Anthony Toscano got in on the scoring action in the second half, tossing a 17-yard strike to Hunter Lackey for the game's final score.

Sam Benfield led Foard (1-1) by rushing 12 times for 43 yards on the ground.

The Tigers ran for 102 yards on 30 carries as a team.

Bandys hosts East Lincoln (2-0) next week in a battle of unbeatens, while Foard tries to bounce back again West Lincoln (2-0) at home.
