PREP NOTEBOOK: Lady Bears win first CVAC match

The Bunker Hill volleyball team scored their its conference victory of the season at home against the Lady Wildcats on Tuesday 25-19, 25-19 and 25-17.

Krissy Helms led the Lady Bears (2-8, 1-2) with 17 digs and 19 assists. Megan Fair and Chyenne Pump each added nine kills. Chelsey Lamm added six kills and four aces.

Bunker Hill hosts Bandys on Thursday.

St. Stephens 3, Alexander Central 0

The Lady Indians bounced back from a tough conference loss at home to win their first Northwestern 3A/4A match of the season against the Lady Cougars 25-16, 25-8 and 25-17.

Jenna Boliek led Saint (8-1, 1-1) with 11 kills, Breanna Hall added 10 kills and Katelyn Houser made 13 assists.

Defensively, Ashley Markland recorded 16 digs, while Baily Cloninger tallied nine digs.

South Iredell 3, Maiden 2

The Lady Blue Devils dropped their first CVAC match of the season at home against the Lady Vikings 25-22, 24-26, 16-25, 25-17 and 8-15.

Mckenzie Garrison led Maiden (6-3, 2-1) with 14 kills kills, Rachel Houston added 10 kills and five blocks and Hannah Martin tallied six kills and eight assists.

Maiden's Kalie Johnson made a team-high 17 assists.

Watauga 3, Fred T. Foard 0

The Lady Tigers were blanked by the Lady Warriors in three-straight sets in Northwestern 3A/4A play 25-18, 25-20 and 25-23.

Emily Simpson led Foard (6-2, 1-1) in kills with six. Rebecca Scott made 17 assists, while Kaitlin Sigmon led the Lady Tigers defensively with seven digs.

Several area games, matches rescheduled

Four tennis matches, including Bandys at West Caldwell, Draughn at Bunker Hill, South Iredell at Maiden and Newton-Conover at East Burke, were all postponed.

The South Iredell at Maiden and Draughn at Bunker Hill matches were postponed until Wednesday at 4 p.m. So far, these are the only make-up date announced for any of the four tennis matches.

A pair of soccer games were also postponed, including Bunker Hill at Hibriten and Ashbrook at Newton-Conover. No make-up dates have been announced for either of those contests.
