Post 48 wins 11-8 to even series with Gaston Braves

The Area IV semifinals between Hickory and Gaston are tied.

Hickory Post 48 scored seven runs in the first two innings Sunday on its way to a 11-8 game two victory against the Gaston Braves to even the two team's best-of-five playoff series at a game apiece.

Game three is Monday at 7 p.m. at Henkel-Alley Field at the American Legion Fairgrounds. Gaston won game two on Saturday in Hickory, 12-6.

Skylar Yoder and Hayden McGraw led Hickory (17-8) on Sunday with two hits and two RBIs each. Teammates Justin Setzer, Bryce Stober and Jason Bright each drove in one run in the contest, which was held at South Point High School.

Hickory's Harry Hatcher earned the win on the mound, allowing five runs, seven hits, one walk and striking out three. Ande Farr pitched 4.2 innings in relief for Post 48, allowing three runs (one earned), three walks and striking out three.
