Mustangs top Trojans, spoil Lowman's shot at win 200

Randy Lowman will have to wait at least another week for his historic 200th coaching victory.

Bandys fell behind at halftime, while East Lincoln continued to pile on the points and the yards in the second half on its way to a 48-20 road win in Catawba on Friday.

With his team up 28-14 at the half, East Lincoln quarterback Garrett Young connected with Tyler Brock on a 24-yard pass with nine minutes to go in the third quarter to make it a three touchdown lead for the Mustangs (3-0).

Bandys (2-1) answered on the ground with a four-yard run by Dillon Street, making it a 35-20 game after the missed extra point.

Unfortunately for the Trojans, that would be their last score of the game.

East Lincoln added two more scores late, including a two-yard rushing touchdown by Scott McMichael and a four-yard run by Chaz Surratt, to pad its lead for good.

The Bandys defense struggled against the East Lincoln offense, giving up 22 Mustang first downs in the game (11 in each half).

Young finished the game completing 15-of-24 passes for 353 passing yards and three touchdowns. Brock caught four of Young's passes for 103 yards and two scores.

On the ground, East Lincoln running back Marquis Pharr tallied 97 yards on 14 carries and a rushing touchdown.

Anthony Toscano led Bandys, completing 11 of his 19 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Receiver Hunter Lackey caught six passes for 106 yards and a score.

On the ground, Quiante Derr recorded a team-high 60 yards on 16 rushes for Bandys.

The Trojans will try to get Lowman his 200th win next week when they travel to North Lincoln (0-3) to face the Knights.
