Kidnappers arrested

Hickory police have arrested four people with kidnapping a man from a Lowe’s Home Improvement store on U.S. 70 in Hickory Monday.

four suspects were arrested around 3:30 a.m.  Tuesday after Hickory Police found the kidnap victim bound with duct tape in a residence just outside the city limits.

According to Hickory Police officials, the chain of events started around 6:30 p.m. Monday evening  when Alfonso Moreno was abducted from Lowe’s Home Improvement.

Police officials said they reviewed video footage recorded from the surveillance cameras at the Lowe’s Home Improvement the video that shows  the victim’s vehicle pulling into a parking space followed by a second vehicle, a dark colored minivan, pulling up beside him.

A short time later, both vehicles drove off in the same direction. Neither vehicle was found at the residence where the arrests were made.

Moreno was reported missing by an acquaintance, after she received a telephone call demanding a ransom for Moreno’s safe return.

During the early stages of the investigation, Hickory police was able to establish a possible location of the victim. 

With the assistance of the Catawba County Sheriff’s Department, Hickory Police units entered a residence located at 1030 21st Street Drive SE and found the victim along with four suspects who were arrested.
