BREAKING NEWS - Two dead, one in critical condition, two others injured after overnight Hickory shooting

A shooting that occurred last night at J. McCroskey’s Irish Pub and Grill in Hickory has taken the lives of two former Bunker Hill High School students.

Hickory Police Department responded to the area around 2:15 a.m. to a report of shots fired.There was a total of five victims who were shot inside their vehicle in the parking lot at the bar.

The victims have been identified as Justin Michael Aiken, 21, of Newton, who was pronounced dead after arriving to Frye Regional Medical Center last night, Cody Manood Bouphavong, 21, of Conover, who died at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte after being shot in the ribs, Quajuae Alexus Kennedy, 21, of Newton, who is in critical condition at Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, Cole Brady Ervin, 20, of Claremont, who was shot in the wrist but has now been released from the hospital, and Pablo Castillo Hernandez, 21, of Conover, who was driving the vehicle and was not injured.

Police have arrested Greydon Hansen, 23, of Hickory, and Dontray Cumberland, 23, of Hickory, in relation to the incident. The two are currently being held in the Catawba County Detention Center and have each been charged with two counts of murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or seriously injure. Hansen and Cumberland will be appearing in court today. The two are being held under no bond.

“There is no known connection at this time between the victims and the suspect,” according to a press release from HPD.
