Brothers Jens Kruger (banjo, vocals) and Uwe Kruger (guitar, vocals) emigrated from Switzerland in 2002 to a place they call “a home away from home:” Western North Carolina.
The brothers met bassist and New York-native, Joel Landsberg, in Switzerland and formed a trio in 1995, The Kruger Brothers.
Jens and Uwe grew up listening to American folk and bluegrass records and playing music with their families. The brothers claim modest beginnings as street musicians traveling across Europe in their teenage years.
However, the trio now has received great acclaim and recognition including an Award for Artistic Excellence from the National Endowment for the Arts. Jens was also recently awarded the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass.
