Despite having nearly a week off from competition, Hickory Post 48 picked up where it left off on Friday.
A six-run top of the fourth lifted Hickory to a Area IV West Division victory against Asheville.
Post 48 improves to 8-3 overall and 4-2 in divisional games.
Tied 1-1 after three complete innings, Hickory's big fourth inning was propelled by a two-RBI single by Zach Jarrett and an RBI single from Ky'rawn Whitfield.
Asheville (3-3, 3-3) tried to chip away at Hickory's lead with two runs each in the sixth and eighth innings, including Jonathan Johnson's RBI sac fly and Jacob Cagle two-RBI single.
However, Post 70 could get no closer, falling by two runs in the contest.
Jordan Eckard led Post 48 with three hits, while Tyler Pait and Colton Chapman each tallied two apiece.
Pait and Jarrett paced Hickory with two RBIs each.
Chapman picked up the win on the mound, allowing two hits, three earned runs, four walks and striking out seven.
Brandyn Norton took the loss for Asheville, surrendering six Post 48 hits, seven runs (one earned), four walks and three strikeouts.
Post 48 returns home to Henkel-Alley Field at the American Legion Fairgrounds in Hickory on Saturday against Caldwell County
