The Fred T. Foard girls cross-country team captured a 3A West Regional title during Saturday's meet at Freedom Park in Morganton.
The Lady Tigers tallied 58 points, which was 15 points better than West Henderson's 73.
Kaitlyn Rayfield led Foard with a third-place finish. Other Lady Tigers who ran in the meet included Courtney Hull (eighth), Beth Robinson (14th), Heidi Robinson (15th), Maggie Marshall (18th), Jian Hilton (44th) and Taylor Whisenant (49th).
Hickory's Ella Juerges was the highest-finishing county girl at the regional meet. The Lady Red Tornadoes came in sixth with 150 points.
St. Stephens, led by Rachel Jones, finished in 11th place in the final standings with 313 points. Jones came away from the meet with a 32nd place finish.
3A WEST REGIONAL BOYS: Bauguess paces Tigers
On the boys side of the 3A West Regional meet in Morganton, Foard's Broderick Bauguess finished in second place, three seconds behind eventual-region champion Noah Green, of Patton.
Bauguess' effort, along with those of Nathaniel Meade (24th), Cameron Harris (44th), Aaron Smith (45th), Patrick Swink (47th) and Khalil Green (61st), helped the Tigers to come away with a seventh-place result among teams.
Hickory's Josh Becker took 20th place at the meet, helping the Tornadoes finish 11th among 3A West squads.
St. Stephens was 15th in the final team standings, paced by Charlie Garnett in 70th place.
2A WEST REGIONAL BOYS: Maiden's Boyles finishes second
Maiden sophomore runner Corbin Boyles finished in second place at Saturday's 2A regional cross-country meet at Freedom Park in Morganton.
Boyles helped Maiden finish in 18th place overall as a team.
The highest-finishing boys squad among Catawba County schools was Bandys in seventh place. Dakota Lewis led the Trojans with a 12th place result.
Bunker Hill was 14th in the team standings. The highest-finishing Bear was Jeremiah Armstrong in 55th.
2A WEST REGIONAL GIRLS: Hewitt is top county girl
Maiden's Olivia Hewitt was the top finishing girl from Catawba County during Saturday's 2A West Regional girls meet. She placed in 23rd.
Hewitt helped the Maiden girls finish in 11th place. Bunker Hill was 16th, while Bandys was just behind in 17th.
Bandys' Ashley Hughes (37th) and Bunker Hill's Breanna Hollar (66th) were the top finishing runners from their respective schools.
STATE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS: All county players eliminated
A Catawba County girls tennis player will not come away with a state title this year despite solid performances.
In the 2A ranks, Bandys' Cassidy Shell knocked off Una Healey, of the Durham School of the Arts, in the first round 6-1 6-1.
However, Shell fell to Cutherbertson's Kalli Karas in the quarterfinals 6-2, 6-2.
Maiden's Molly Black and Cenyu Yang fell in the first round of 2A doubles competition to the team of Rebecca White and Maribeth Farnham, of Roanoke Rapids, 6-0, 6-1.
In 3A doubles, Hickory's Zoe Fisher and Celeste Womack also fell in the first round of competition to Chapel Hill's Danielle Cohen and Nicole Chang 6-4, 6-4.
