The St. Stephens soccer team picked up a crucial victory against Watauga in double overtime on Wednesday, 2-1.
Andrew Barton and Tommy Vo each netted goals for Saint (13-6-2, 8-2-2), while Luke Bruce assisted on Vo's goal.
By virtue of the Indians' win, St. Stephens breaks a tie with Watauga (15-3-3, 8-2-2) to claim second place outright in the Northwestern 3A/4A.
Hickory 1, Fred T. Foard 0 (2 OT)
Paxton Taylor scored a goal with a little more than a minute left in the second overtime to lift the Red Tornadoes to a thrilling victory against the Tigers.
Luke Hart assisted on Taylor's game-winning goal.
Hickory finishes the regular season with a 22-1 overall record and 11-1 conference mark, while Foard ends with a 12-8-2 overall record and 5-6-1 NWC record.
West Caldwell 2, Newton-Conover 0
The Red Devils were shut out in Lenoir on Wednesday against the Warriors.
Victory Peralta and Jonathan Cruz-Nava both pocketed goals for West Caldwell (14-5-1, 11-3-0).
Newton-Conover (12-5-1, 10-3-0) finishes its regular season Thursday with a game against CVAC champion South Iredell, which was delayed last week due to weather.
Maiden 2, Draughn 1
The Blue Devils earned their first victory of the season at home on Wednesday, knocking off Draughn.
Jimmy Vang scored a goal in each half for MAiden (1-16, 1-13).
