Catawba Valley Quilters Guild welcomes quilter enthusiasts and shoppers alike during its Oct. 12-14 weekend event at the Metro Convention Center in Hickory. The event starts Friday morning and runs until Sunday afternoon and features quilts, homemade items and supplies for all levels of quilters.
Libby Sigmon said the event happens every three years and features more than 100 quilts on display for the public to see.
"The quilts are made from members in the quilters guild who come from five different counties and two out of state," Sigmon said.
During the weekend event, free demonstrations will be scattered throughout the convention center. One member of the guild will show a demonstration on thread sketching. The technique shows how fast the needle moves as she “draws” with it. Thread sketching is not a digital process and requires fast moving hands.
