The fourth game between Hickory Post 48 and Caldwell County Post 29 was postponed on Wednesday due to field conditions.
The two teams will play game four on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Roy Waters, commissioner for the Legion State, said that if rain caused the final two games to be delayed any further, rules state that the series would go back to a best two-out-of-three format.
Because they have won two-out-of-three games, Hickory (18-9) would advance to championship round against either Queen City (22-7) or Cherryville (23-6). Cherryville currently leads that series, 2-1.
Hickory lost a tough 21-4 game on Tuesday to Caldwell County. The win kept Post 29 alive in the best-of-five series between the two squads.
Caldwell County (20-11) belted out 15 hits in the fifth and sixth innings of that game on their way to the home route.
Despite the loss, Post 48 has won 12 of its last 14 games, including two postseason series victories against Gaston and Huntersville.
A win on Thursday would add a third series victory and a spot in the championship series.
