Two county governing bodies are set to hold meetings Monday night.
The Catawba County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the 1924 Courthouse in downtown Newton.
Maiden Town Council is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Monday in council chambers of the Maiden Branch Library.
Items on the meetings' agenda include:
Maiden Town Council:
-Finance officer's report for February;
-Public hearing for a text amendment to allow metal roofs on mobile homes;
-Manager's report to discuss funding options for a new town hall;
-Discussion about several ordinances, including ordinances to amend town code, create a capital project budget for town hall construction and amend the fiscal year 2010-11 budget in the town's capital reserve fund;
-Resolution to proceed with an architectural drawing for the new town hall;
-Proclamation for Child Abuse Prevention month;
-Update on Piedmont Wipers at 417 S. Main Ave.
Catawba County Board of Commissioners:
-Consideration of authorization for staff to apply for a Carolina Thread Trail grant;
-Consideration of naming a group home campus in honor of Ethel Lutz;
-Possible renewal of leases with Catawba Valley Behavioral Healthcare for four Newton homes used for residential services;
-Consideration of a tax refund in the amount of $984.40 because of an amount paid in error;
-Report from a North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Facility Needs survey.
