Jumping out to a 28-0 lead by halftime, the Maiden Blue Devils cruised to a 28-7 home football victory over North Lincoln on Friday — their first win under new head coach Frank Snider.
Running back Grant Yowe and quarterback Jake McRee led Maiden (1-1) in the first half.
The Blue Devils opened the ball game on a 10-play, 76-yard drive capped by Yowe's eight-yard scoring run to give Maiden an early 7-0 lead.
McRee made the Maiden advantage two scores with a one-yard quarterback keeper.
Just before the half was over, Yowe scored again on a one-yard touchdown run, while McRee found Alex White for a 32-yard scoring pass to make it 28-0 at the break.
North Lincoln got on the board in the second half due in part to four Maiden personal foul penalties on one drive.
Knights quarterback Cody Blake plunged into the end zone from one yard out for the lone score of the night for his squad.
With a win under its belt, Maiden travels to Hickory (1-1) next week for a game against the Red Tornadoes at 7:30 p.m.View more articles in:
