Wreck closes U.S. 70

July 26, 2012

U.S. 70 was closed about half an hour after a two-car wreck in Conover about 1 p.m.

Conover Police say that Alton Baggett’s was driving his Buick  east on U.S. 70, when a Nissan pick-up truck operated by Sebatian Cecilio pulled into his path of travel.

Cecilio was attempting to turn westbound on U.S. 70 out of the Kangaroo Express convenience store parking lot. He told police he though hiswas safe entering the roadway because he thought Baggett was turning into the conveneince store because his turn signal was flashing.

The collision caused the airbag in Baggett’s vehicle to deploy and Conover Fire Department had to free him from the vehicle. He was transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Wonder if Mr. Cecilio has a valid NCDL?
