A Maiden woman was hospitalized after being stabbed in the parking lot of an area convenience store.
Police say the stabbing stemmed from a verbal altercation between two women at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Shell gas station at 610 E. Main St. in Maiden.
Francis Blancher, 41, of Maiden, was hospitalized at Carolinas Medical Center's Lincoln campus after being stabbed in the abdomen with a knife.
Blancher was discharged from the hospital as of 9 a.m. Monday, according to a representative of CMC-Lincoln. Â
It appears Blancher was stabbed after getting into a verbal and physical argument with Lisa Reynolds, 44, of Lincolnton, a known acquaintance.
“There had been an altercation in the parking lot and some type of struggle ensued, which subsequently led to the stabbing,” said Maiden Police Chief Tracy Ledford. “There is an ongoing feud between these individuals.” Â
Maiden Police responded to the stabbing call shortly after 5:30 p.m. Sunday, but the involved parties had already left the Shell gas station, Ledford said.
Police were able to identify Blancher as the victim shortly thereafter at CMC-Lincoln.
Reynolds turned herself in Sunday.
She is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and is in Catawba County Jail with her bail set at $10,000.
