Woman car jacked at Taco Bell

April 25, 2011

A Newton woman was car jacked early Sunday morning as she was leaving a Hickory Taco Bell.
Sarah Sherard, 27, was leaving Taco Bell on U.S. 70 SE after eating with friends at about 2 a.m. Sunday. Sherard told Hickory Police that as she was driving toward the parking lot exit, a fight started in the parking lot. Sherard stopped her car and got out to go to the fight.
Sherard said as the fight was almost over, a male walked up to her, pushed her against her car, took her car keys and left the scene in Sherard's 2005 BMW X3.
Libby Grigg, Hickory Police chief's assistant, said eyewitnesses on the scene said the suspect was a homeless man who was seen standing near the Taco Bell. However, Grigg said employees at the business denied seeing a homeless man Sunday morning outside of the restaurant.
No injuries were reported from the car jacking incident.
Hickory Police are investigating. No arrests have been made as of press time Monday.
Police are searching for the silver 2005 BMW X3 with chrome rims and vent shades on the car's windows. Anyone with information is asked to call Hickory Police at (828) 328-5551.

...Id say she either new someone in the fight or was in other ways involved in the fight. There are very few "innocent victims" In fact i have heard some lawmen say "the last truly innocent victim, we hanged on a cross 2000 years ago".

No Victim Here

My father gave me a bit of advice that is as timeless as any ever uttered. "Nothing good happens after midnight around here." It stands to reason now as it did in the late 80's.

Our "victim" exited the vehicle to observe a fight in a Taco Bell parking lot at 2 am. I am assuming that she got out of her car to get a better look at the people fighting so she could give an accurate description to the 911 operators as she did her civic duty reporting the fight.

Now the suspect is a complete stranger to everyone there. A homeless man who had an urge to suppress his appetite with the wholesome goodness that can only be found at 2am....Taco Bell. The police are wasting my tax dollars investigating this nonsense.

Stop blaming the homeless for everything. They have enough to worry about let alone being a convenient scapegoat.
