Without James and Wade, Heat still beat Bobcats
Mike Miller scored a season-high 26 points, helping the defending NBA champion Miami Heat take down the Charlotte Bobcats on Friday, 89-79.
Chris Bosh added 18 points and eight rebounds in the victory by the Heat, who improves to 59-16 on the season.
Rookie Michael-Kidd Gilchrist led Charlotte (18-58) with a double double — 18 points and 14 rebounds.
Three Miami players, including Dwayne Wade, Ray Allen and reigning NBA MVP LeBron James, say out Friday's contest.
James has been dealing with tightness in his right hamstring, while Wade and Allen have both battled ankle issues.
The Heat have already secured the Eastern Conference's No. 1 seed.
Charlotte is on the road for the next three games, including at Brooklyn on Saturday, at Memphis on Tuesday and at Detroit on Friday.
The Bobcats return home Saturday and finish out their season with three-straight home games against Milwaukee, New York and Cleveland.
