Wildcats avoid upset with OT win

Despite carrying a four-point lead into halftime, the Wildcats got the better of the Red Devils.

Cody Brown scored 19 points, and Adam Manns added 13 points in Draughn's thrilling overtime win.

Newton-Conover (6-8, 3-4) took the lead into halftime after Nick Carter hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Carter led the Red Devils with 12 first half points.

Draughn (14-3, 5-2) clawed back to take a six-point lead with a strong third quarter. The Red Devils came back in the fourth quarter to tie the game and send it into overtime.

However, it was the Wildcats that scored 10 points in the extra frame to pick up victory.

Leading the way for Newton-Conover was Carter, who finished with 16 points. Cameron Shuford scored 13 points, and Austin Adams added 10 points.

Bunker Hill 54, Maiden 52

Walker Mehl scored 14 points, and Taylor Simmons added 12 points as the Bears picked up the tough victory over Maiden.

Bunker Hill (10-7, 4-3) jumped out to an early 35-24 halftime lead.
The Blue Devils (7-10, 2-5) came back in the second half and outscored the Bears 15-8 in the third quarter to tighten the game.

Bunker Hill led 43-39 heading into the final quarter.

The Bears managed to hold on, despite being outscored by two points in the fourth, and pick up the victory.

Nate Johnson led Maiden with 17 points. The Blue Devils' Jalen Gibbs added 14 points, and Holden Cox scored 10 points.
