Hugh Everett Bumgarner, 84, of Newton, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at Abernethy Laurels in Newton. The Bumgarner family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Drum Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Conover.  

Kathleen Pennell Austin, 72, of Conover, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Lenoir.

Robert Fred Asherbraner, 71, of  Newton, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at Abernethy Laurels. The Asherbraner family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Drum Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Conover.

Jimmy Xiong, 22, of Morganton, died Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
