Virginia Wilkinson Scronce, 88, of Hickory, passed away Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at Abernethy Laurels in Newton. Bass-Smith Funeral Home is serving the family of Virginia Wilkinson Scronce.  

Betty Blackwell Schrum, 86, quietly departed this life Oct. 2, 2010, at Montereau Retirement Center in Tulsa, Okla.

The Rev. James Ralph Bonlender, 61, of Hickory, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, after a short stay at Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley in Newton.       
Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at Brookford City Cemetery in Brookford.

Carole Sue Hawkins Giffel, 67, of Lincolnton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, at her residence. There will be no formal services held.
