James “Jim” Henry Huffman Sr., 76, of Claremont, died March 7, 2011, following a period of declining health.  Jim was the eldest son of the late John Henry and Elma Loftin Huffman.  Burke Mortuary in Newton is serving the Huffman family.

Phillip Dexter Keener, 54, of Hickory, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Frye Regional Medical Center.
A celebration of Phillip's life will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2011, at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel on Startown Road.

The Rev. William Thaddeus Grimstead, 77, of Blytheville, Ark., formerly of Maiden, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark.  Graveside services will be held Friday, March 11, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the St. James Lutheran Cemetery in Newton.

Tiny Winfred McClelland Watts Barber, 55, of Statesville, died Friday, March 4, 2011, at Rowan Regional Medical Center, following an automobile accident.  Members of the family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., one hour prior to service, but will assemble at the residence of her sister, Sylvia Thomas, 156 Marcel Road, at other times.
