Remember, this year, love your library PDF Print E-mail
Written by Chris Gilfillan (O-N-E editor)

The county is urging you to Love your Library this Valentine's Day. And, in return, the library wants to know what you love about it.

Surveys will be administered at local libraries until March 14, asking local users questions about the functions of the library and ways it can improve.

They will also be handed out at each of the library branches during the open houses, which will last from noon until closing time.

"The goal of the survey is to find out how we're doing with customer satisfaction," said Lynne Bolick Reed, library services coordinator. "We're taking this as an opportunity to ask what people want from their library."

She added that needs differ at each branch — while St. Stephens branch library serves a young family of readers the Sherrills Ford branch may serve an older demographic.

"I think as a whole, this county is made up of al lot of little communities," Tammy Wilson, the public information officer for the Catawba County Library System, said. "Our libraries each serve as little pockets."

And while filling out the surveys, don't forget to register to win a free box of chocolates, which will be given away at each branch.

The "Have a Heart" campaign, though, will be closing soon, so if patrons want to bring a canned food item to donate to the local Cooperative Christian Ministry, they'll have to bring it soon.

The survey can also be accessed on the library's Web site: www.catawbacountync.gov/library/.
