Vehicle fire at apartment complex raises questions

Newton Police and Fire departments responded to Park Place Apartments on South Bost Avenue early Wednesday morning around 3:30 a.m. when a vehicle was reported to be on fire.

The 1994 Chevy Beretta was parked between two other cars that caught on fire as well.

The two other vehicles were a 2005 Jeep Cherokee and a 1999 Chevy Cavalier on either side of the car.

Newton Fire Department Chief Kevin Yoder said all three vehicles were significantly damaged and believed all three vehicles would be deemed a total loss.

Yoder said the fire department had the fire under control around 3:40 a.m. and cleared the scene around 5 a.m.
