The first-ever Carolina Auto Racing Show (CARS) starts today at the Hickory Metro Convention Center.
The show, which is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., continues through Saturday. Admission is $10.
Former NASCAR owner and current engine builder Robert Yates will be in attendance today from 11 a.m. to noon signing autographs at the Roush Yates Performance products display.
“There has been a need for a show for not only the professional racer but the weekly guy that supports his local short track,” said CARS Director Jimmy Schiltz. “We chose Hickory, to host the event for several reasons. The first being proximity. Hickory is in the heart of racing country and lies within 80 miles of Charlotte, Asheville and Winston-Salem. The Hickory Metro Convention Center is also located adjacent to Interstate 40 with many hotels, restaurants and other attractions close by. The facility itself is an upscale convention center that was built in 1997.”
Many different exhibitors will be in attendance, including Roush Yates Performance Parts, Goodyear, Heintz Performance, Dirt Late Model Magazine, Dirtondirt.com, Dirtwrap, Icon Racewear, Carolina Speedway, NDRA, Racingjunk.com, Racing2cure.com, 3 Wide Media, ISP Racing Seats and Renegade Racing Fuels.
Each of these exhibitors will also give away door prizes, which you do not have to be present to win.
The event will also include seminars, awards banquets and conferences.
