Louise Reel Carpenter, 96, of Cherryville, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at Carolina Care Center in Cherryville. A private memorial graveside service will be held at a later date.

Curtis “Steven” Mainess, 42, of Newton, passed away Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at Palliative CaerCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley in Newton. Burke Mortuary in Newton is serving the Mainess family.

Goldie Hudson Ritchie, 78, of Conover, passed away Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba Valley. Bass-Smith Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the family of Goldie Hudson Ritchie.

Michael Eugene Brown Sr., 52, of Hickory, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at Life Care Center in Banner Elk. Funeral arrangements are incomplete with Drum Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Conover.
