Cletus Wesley Drum, 88 of Newton, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Abernethy Laurels. The Drum family is in the care of Robert F. Bennett, Funeral Service Licensee.

The Reverend Van Dolan Grimes, 88, of Conover, died Monday, June 3, 2013, at his residence. The Grimes family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home & Cremations in Newton.

Roy Ham, 87, of Hickory, passed away on Sunday, June 02, 2013 at Catawba Regional Hospice.

James “Jim” Curtis Jarrett, 84, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013 at his residence in Newton after a period of declining health. The Jarrett family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home & Cremations in Newton.

Joanne Edwards White Shuford, 84, of Hickory died Friday, May 31, 2013 at Frye Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family. Bass-Smith Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family of Joanne Edwards White Shuford.

Christopher Patrick “Pat” Lyons, 68, of Claremont died Friday, May 31, 2013 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton. Margaret Ann Hill Plyler,  58, of Newton died  Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton.  Memorials may be made to:  Catawba Regional Hospice of Newton.

Julius Milton Sherrill, 91, of Lincolnton died, Saturday, June 1, 2013. Born Sept. 8, 1921 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Samuel T. Sherrill and the late Pearl Campbell Sherrill.  The family received friends, prior to the service,  at the church.
