Truck Traffic in Newton

The citizens of Newton might have notice a few 18-wheelers parked along the sides of College Avenue.

Farmers across the state of North Carolina are coming down to Newton to sell their harvest wheat to Renwood Mills. Traditionally, trucks would be park all across Brady Avenue waiting in line for their cargo to be unloaded. This year, things are a little bit different.

“Over the past 20 years, we would have (the trucks) line up on Brady and Highway 16,” said Randy Humphries, company purchaser for Renwood Mills. “With the work on the new fire station, we’ve had to look at all the different routes and find the best alternative.”
