Trojans Stay In Title Hunt

The Trojans kept their one-loss record in tact Tuesday with a home win over the East Burke Cavaliers. The Trojans swept the Cavaliers 3-0 and won the games 25-16, 25-15, 25-18. Bandys improved to 5-1 against the Catawba Valley 2-A — the lone loss Aug. 31 at Newton-Conover — and 6-2 overall. Punch led the way to victory with six kills, three stuff blocks and three blocks. Taylor Sigmon had a team-high 10 kills and contributed two blocks, and Madi Story finished with 25 assists.

FRED T. FOARD 3, ST. STEPHENS 1
The Tigers defeated the Indians at home Tuesday in conference volleyball match. With the win, the Tigers are now 5-5 overall. St. Stephens is 6-6.

Logan Smith scored 10 straight service points for the Tigers, and Drew Worrells had 10 kills and eight digs.

Paige Heeke led the Indians with 19 kills and 18 digs in the loss. Abby Foster finished with a team-high 38 assists, and Taylor Cummins had 32 digs for St. Stephens.

Foard plays Thursday at home against Watauga, and St. Stephens travels Thursday to Alexander Central.

MAIDEN 3, BUNKER HILL 0
Maiden swept Bunker Hill in a conference volleyball match at Maiden. Bunker Hill dropped to 2-4 against the Catawba Valley 2-A and 3-7 overall.

Blue Devils Melanie Annas and Mackenzie Garrison each had 10 kills in the conference win. Garrison also had eight blocks and eight digs, and Annas finished with nine digs. Ibtxhis Khang had a team-high 30 assists.
Bunker Hill plays at home Thursday against Bandys, and Maiden has a match at home against Draughn.
