Town hires new manager

October 5, 2010

The town of Catawba has a new manager.
Catawba Town Council approved Monday the hiring of Brian Barnett, of Mooresville, to fill the vacant town manager position.
"He has all the qualifications we were looking for," said Catawba Mayor Vance Readling.
About 40 people applied for the job, and Catawba's interim town manager Eric Davis helped Town Council narrow down the candidates, Readling said.
Readling said Barnett has experience working with a town's budgetary needs, which was a skill he wanted in a new town manager.
"He's been working very closely with the financial department in Mooresville, helping them to trim the budget," Readling said.
Readling declined to comment on Barnett's salary as Catawba's town manager.
Barnett will start his new position Nov. 1.
