Touch up after teeing off

September 28, 2010

Yolanda Amilda Gordon, a nail technician, gives
a spa guest a relaxing pedicure Tuesday
at the Rock Barn Spa in Conover.
The spa offers services designed to help guests
relax and unwind after a day
on the golf course.

A day on the golf course can leave players and spectators tired, sore and in need of some TLC.
The Ensure Classic at Rock Barn presented by Kia Motors kicked off Monday, and The Spa at Rock Barn staff is ready to melt away the stress and tension that often comes after a few days on the golf course.
"Most (spa guests) want to come in and relax after a day on the course," said Teresa Moose, a concierge at The Spa at Rock Barn.
And guests can find a spa treatment for almost anything that ails them. Tight muscles are loosened with deep tissue massages, sun-damaged skin is rejuvenated with mineral salt scrub facials and a guest's entire body is treated during a mud wrap of thermal Italian mud.
"During the tournament, we're going to see more of the golfers and their wives here," Moose said.
The spa is designed to offer every guest an environment promoting relaxation and natural beauty, Moose said. There are no harsh chemical smells, and many of the products used during spa services are all natural.
The 20,000-square-foot facility includes a rock-faced therapeutic waterfall, steam rooms, a whirpool and a cold water pool. The spa offers several packages for guests, which include massages, pedicures, facials and lunch. Spa guests who purchase spa packages can use the facility's amenities all day on the day of their appointment.
