Arthur “Art” Eugene Barnes, 92, of Newton, formerly of New York, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011 at Abernethy Laurels in Newton.  Condolences may be sent to the Barnes family at www.drumfuneralhome.com.

Nola May Fox Deal, 84, of Hickory, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011 at Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley in Newton after a brief battle with cancer.  Burke Mortuary in Newton is serving the Deal family.

Sarah Hilda Barger, 87, of Hickory, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011 at Palliative Care Center & Hospice of Catawba Valley.  Bass-Smith Funeral Home in Hickory is serving the family of Sarah Hilda Barger.

Carroll Lee Schronce, 75, of Lincolnton, died Nov. 1, 2011 at his residence.  E. F. Drum Funeral Home is serving the Schronce family.

Lorraine June Langston Porterfield, 84, of 2600 Croasdaile Farm Parkway, Durham, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011 at Croasdaile Retirement Community after a period of declining health.  The family has entrusted arrangements to Jenkins Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Newton.

Lynda Drum Peterson, 70, of Hickory, died Oct. 28, 2011 at her residence.  The Peterson family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Drum Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 940 29th Ave. NE, Hickory, NC 28601.

Jack Allan Williams, 59, of Hickory, died Nov. 2, 2011 at his residence in Hickory. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Drum Funeral Home in Hickory.
