Thunderstorms bring tornado threat to county

A system of thunderstorms hit Catawba County this week, with threats of heavy rain, wind, hail, and potential tornados on Tuesday and Wednesday.

"We dodged the first threat Tuesday morning," said Catawba County Weather Meterologist Joey Mosteller. "In the afternoon we'll have a period of clearing and then another round of thunderstorms and severe weather. The actual cold front should push through Wednesday, which will end our severe weather threat."
