Thieves snatch woman’s dog

Police are searching for suspects who snatched a woman’s dog in Maiden this week.

The unknown suspects stole a female Labrador mix belonging to Emily G. Coleman, of 1771 Fieldbrook Court in Newton, on Sunday, Feb. 26, according to a Catawba County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

The dog was valued at $100, according to the report.

The thieves also stole an E-Z-GO golf cart valued at $500.

Catawba County Sheriff Coy Reid said the dog theft was a spontaneous event and did not know of any other similar incidents.

March 1
* Suspects broke into a single-family residence at 6399 Mountain Grove Road in Hickory and stole a $300 PK380 automatic pistol, $500, a .40-caliber pistol and a $100 portable gun safe.

* Suspects broke into a single-family residence at 1910 Gaynell St. in Conover and stole a $500 55-gallon barrel containing copper welding.

* Suspects broke into a residential outbuilding at 6544 St. Peters Church Road in Conover and stole a $7,000 green John Deere Gator.

Feb. 29
* Suspects broke into WEA Furniture at 3341 Highland Ave. NE in Hickory and stole a $1,200 green 4-inch cloth cutter, a $100 red coreless drill combo set and $50 in assorted hand tools.

.... a gang of feral cats riding around in an EZ Go Golf Cart with a dog "trussed" up on the hood. Watch out, they are armed with a >40 cal and a >380 and carrying a cloth cutter. These kitties are bad news!
