Taste Full Beans Coffee Shop is celebrating, and the community is invited to the party. The excitement and festivities commemorate a decade of serving friends and non-profit organizations of Hickory. Anniversary celebrations are planned for Thursday, Nov. 18. The day begins with a special early morning food delight, an invitational luncheon and ends with a late day mix of hor d’oeuvres, wine and live entertainment. Opened in 2000 by D.W. Bentley and Edgar Nucamendi, Taste Full Beans is a mainstay business in Hickory. The only coffee and tea shop in the downtown area, it is a comfortable environment for relaxing, reading or gathering with friends. The assortment of healthy food adds to the offerings. “This is my community, and I love building long relationships with my customers, friends and fellow neighbors” said Nucamendi. “I consider them all family.” Each year, they continually give back to the community by encouraging contributions and hosting fundraising events. Organizations supported by Taste Full Beans in 2010 are the Humane Society of Catawba County, ALFA and the Women’s Resource Center. Their philanthropic efforts have not gone unnoticed. Several awards of recognition for their work have been received including WSOC-TV’s 9 Who Care award, The N.C. Governor’s Award for Distinguished Volunteer award and the FPA Philanthropic award. Taste Full Beanssupports the talents of local artists and photographers, featuring showcase exhibits of paintings and photographic works throughout the bistro.
