Target creates 100 new jobs

April 18, 2012

Target's distribution center in Newton is creating 100 new jobs as the company plans to renovate as many as 300 stores, including its retail location in Catawba County.

"We are excited to continue growth in the area," said Kyle Garrett, general manager of the Target Distribution Center on N.C. 10. "We have a great team member base, not only from a productivity standpoint and in making sure to service our guests, but also in our community involvement."

During the past year, Target's distribution center in Newton added about 19 stores to the list of retail locations it supplies, and Garrett said another four stores will be added in the year ahead. In addition to adding those stores, Target's move to renovate and remodel stores — including the store on Catawba Valley Boulevard in Hickory — increases demand on the distribution center, he said.
