Surprise visit

October 1, 2012

Six-year-old Taryn Cline thought it was just another day of school at Lyle Creek, until her dad showed up after eight months of deployment.

During library time Monday, Tara Zeller’s class filled the media center along with other first and fourth grade classes. While Librarian Jenny Gerami told the students she was being evaluated, the real reason the students gathered was to surprise Taryn Cline. The students were read two stories while Taryn Cline’s family set up her dad’s surprise. Brandi Cline said her goal was to make sure Taryn was not the only child in the room.

Taryn’s parents, Brandi and Dustin Cline planned for two weeks with the help of kindergarten teacher Andrea Elder, Zeller and Gerami to surprise their daughter.

“I’m just glad he’s home,” Brandi Cline said. “I was more excited to surprise Taryn than anything.”
