Students prep for their future

October 11, 2012

High school seniors filled Catawba Valley Community College's Tarlton Complex Wednesday, Oct. 10 to focus on their future. Approximately 300 seniors in Education Matters pilot groups from Hickory High, Hickory Career and Arts Magnet, Newton Conover, Fred T. Foard, Bandys, Maiden, St. Stephens, Bunker Hill and Challenger high schools gained employability skills and valuable information to help them succeed in career preparation prior to high school graduation.

Students participated in workshops, mock interviews and portfolio reviews led by Education Matters business professionals with direction from area human resource professional associations: Society for Human Resource management (SHRM) and Piedmont Human Resource Association (PHRA) and CVCC Human Resources Development staff members.
