Story third in AP's girls hoops player vote

Bandys guard Madi Story finished third in the voting for the Associated Press girls prep basketball player of the year.

The voting results were released on Saturday with Story, the Catawba Valley 2A player of the year, receiving two of a possible 22 votes.

The sophomore guard, who averaged 18 points per game for the Lady Trojans (28-3), finished behind eventual winner Green Hope senior and Vanderbilt commitment Kristen Gaffney.

Rodney Purvis, of Upper Room, earned the top boys player. Purvis is committed to play for N.C. State next season.
