State to repair Catawba County bridges

The state announced it will spend $3.7 million to repair a dozen bridges in the region, including four in Catawba County.

N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT) awarded a contract to Lanford Brothers Company Inc. of Roanoke, Va., for bridge maintenance slated to begin in summer 2013.

The following bridges in Catawba County were approved for repairs:
* N.C. 150 bridge over the Catawba River near Terrell
* Lenoir-Rhyne Boulevard bridge over Interstate 40 in Hickory
* N.C. 10 bridge over Catawba River in Hickory
* Old N.C. 127 bridge over U.S. 321 in Hickory
