Kevin Starr, a Catawba County native and 30 year veteran in Cooperative Extension will serve as interim director in Catawba County. Starr has been serving as Extension Director in Lincoln County since 1991, will begin Aug.  1. He will lead Catawba County’s Extension programs while a search continues for a successor to Jeff Carpenter, who is retiring as Catawba County’s Extension Director, at the end of July.

“We’re really glad to welcome Kevin to our team,” Catawba County Assistant County Manager, Mary Furtado said. “He will have some big shoes to fill in assuming Jeff’s duties, but based on his experience and proven track record in Lincoln County, we believe he’s up for the challenge.  As we continue to search for the right person to lead Catawba County’s Cooperative Extension program into the future, we are hopeful that our citizens will continue to enjoy the same quality programming for which Extension has come to be known.”
