Shuford Wins Heavy Hitter

Lenoir-Rhyne University's Marcus Shuford has been selected as this week's Ronnie Lott Heavy Hitter Award winner.

Shuford wins the award for the sixth time in his career and for the third straight game dating back to the last two contests of the 2009 season.

Shuford, a senior free safety, finished with three tackles in Lenoir-Rhyne’s 59-10 victory over Chowan in the 2010 season opener this past Saturday at home.

Shuford is a two-time All-South Atlantic Conference pick (2008-09) and has won the Moretz Sports Heavy Hitter Of The Year Award in 2007 and 2009.

GoldToeMoretz will donate $1,000 in the names of each week’s winner of the Heavy Hitter Award to Habitat For Humanity of Catawba County.
