A Catawba county man is in jail after deputies said he led them on a short chase in a stolen van.
Shane Lee Huffman, 34, of 1700 Buffalo Shoals Road, Catawba, faces multiple charges including felony fleeing to elude, larceny of a motor vehicle, driving while impaired and driving with a revoked license.
Huffman is being held in the Catawba County jail under a $30,000 bond.

The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office said they received a report around 8 a.m. Tuesday that a white Chevrolet van had been stole from Ramsey Finishing at 3486 Old Catawba Road, Claremont.

“Our delivery driver pulled into the parking lot and hopped out of the van for just a split second and the next thing you know, the van was being driven off,” business owner Chris Ramsey said. “We have many surveillance cameras around our business property so we had several images of the thief, he was clearly visible as he walked up and got into the van.”

Catawba County deputies were taking the theft report at the business when a customer recognized Huffman.
