School board member to step down

May 15, 2012

Kyle Drum vacates his seat on the Newton-Conover City Schools Board of Education at the end of this month. He is moving out of the district to be closer to his job.

The school board invites Newton residents interested in filling Drum’s seat for the remaining 18 months of his four-year term to submit a letter explaining why they want to serve the district. The board will then consider appointing a replacement for Drum, said Chairman Scott Loudermelt.

Drum, 31, joined the school board in November 2009 as a Newton district representative.
