SBI aiding deputies with meth probe

Deputies have charged two people this week, saying a probation officer's tip led to the discovery of a  suspected methamphetamine manufacturing operation July 25 at the couple's residence.

Penelope Kathryn Hewitt, 39, and Gregory Seth Kiser, 46, both of 1885 Campbell Rd,,  each face a felony charge of  drug violations and a misdemeanor charge for possessing drug paraphernalia, according to Catawba County Sheriff's Office arrest reports.

According to deputies, after receiving a tip from Hewitt's probation officer, officers searched the residence in the early morning hours of July 25, while Hewitt and Kiser were both present.
