Maggie Pope Korn, 89, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Feb. 12, 2014 at Abernethy Laurels in Newton. The Korn family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Drum Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Conover.

Harold Lee “Hal” Abernethy, age 89 of Rose St., Newton entered resurrection life Feb. 10, 2014 at Sherrill’s Ford Hospice House. Goodin-Drum Funeral Home in Maiden is serving the Abernethy family.

Mrs. Alice Younce Franklin, age 78, of Hickory, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton. The family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Drum Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 940 29th Ave. NE, Hickory, NC.

Burl Lehman transitioned to his next grand adventure, passing away in his sleep at his new home in Flagstaff, Ariz., on Feb. 11. He was 90 years old. Bass-Smith Funeral Home in Hickory is serving the family of Burl Lehman and condolences may be left at www.bass-smithfuneralhome.com.

Robert Bradley “Brad” Holler, 55, of Claremont, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church of one’s choice.
