Road closure in Newton

NEWTON, N.C. – The Newton Public Works and Utilities Department, along with Iron Mountain Construction Company Inc., are installing a manhole near the intersection of North Ashe Avenue and West 1st Street. The construction started on Monday, July 6 and is expected to take one to two weeks to complete.

City crews will reroute traffic until the work is completed.

This weekend will see more roads closed in downtown Newton for construction.

The Newton Public Works and Utilities Department, along with CK Contracting Inc. and their subcontractors, will work on West D Street and South Cline Avenue to relocate a manhole and reconnect sewer services beginning the morning of Sunday, July 12.

The work is expected to be completed the evening of Tuesday, July 14. City crews will reroute traffic until the work is completed.

In areas affected by road closures, garbage and recycling services may run a day behind schedule.  If you have questions regarding sanitation services, call 828-695-4294.
