Reward offered for copper-theft information

January 6, 2012

A Newton company is offering $2,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to arrests in a recent copper-theft case.

According to the Newton Police Department, suspects broke into an unoccupied warehouse in Newton around Dec. 13 and stole an estimated $200,000 worth of copper wiring. The property at 2855 Nathan St. is owned by The Hadley Company.

The Hadley Company is offering the reward to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of suspects responsible for the theft and damage to the property.

Newton police ask anyone with information to call the department at 828-465-7430.

Newton police say the Hadley Company theft is among many copper-theft cases investigated in the last year in Catawba County and surrounding areas.
