The 124th Annual Soldiers Reunion returns once again this August. Reunion Week kicks off Sunday, Aug. 11 and culminates with Reunion Day and the Reunion Parade on Thursday, Aug. 15.

American Legion Post 16 and the Newton Merchants Association sponsor and organize the week-long celebration, which is believed to be the longest-running patriotic celebration not based on a holiday in the country. Reunion Day is held annually on the third Thursday in August. Planning is now under way for 2013 events.
