Residents at risk for record service scam

Some Catawba County residents have recieved letters about their property information that has Donna Spencer, Register of Deeds, concerned.

The letters, distributed by Record Transfer Services, ask property owners to pay a document fee of $83 to receive their property deeds.

"Record Transfer Services recommends that all NC homeowners obtain a copy of their Current Grant Deed and Property Assessment Profile," the letter states.
